IPL 2023: Watch Mark Wood motivates his teammate before leaving for England

Star English fast bowler Mark Wood is set to fly back to England for the birth of his daughter. The Lucknow Super Giants team, which published a video of him in the early hours of May 8, has confirmed the development. Even though he anticipates returning later if LSG advances to the playoffs, his odds currently appear slim given that he was seen obtaining many of his colleagues’ signatures prior to departing the camp.

Wood, meanwhile, has played for LSG in four games this season and has taken 11 wickets in the process. Prior to becoming ill with the virus, he appeared to be in excellent shape. Naveen-ul-Haq then took his spot in the lineup, and Wood was never given another chance. He hopes to recover well and bounce back stronger in the future, though.

Wood spoke

“For the birth of my daughter. So, sadly, but for a good reason to go home. Hopefully, I might be able to come back and hopefully, you will be able to see me again. I am sorry that unfortunately I have not played more and in the four games that I have managed to play, I have managed to get a few wickets and hopefully, I can charge in again,” Wood said in a video released by Lucknow Super Giants

“It’s a great team togetherness here. I really love the team, the backroom staff are fantastic and it has been great to see the lads do well over different parts of the tournament,” the 33-year-old added.

Before leaving, Wood encouraged his teammates to give their best to qualify for the playoffs.

“One last push and get into those playoffs and make it to the finals. That’s the goal and as a group, we understand that. It is tough in sports, you win some and you lose some but the lads are training hard. There are some fantastic characters in the group and they really try everything for your team. So keep believing and back them up, and I am sure they’ll come good,” Wood concluded.
