IPL 2023: Nitish Rana loses his cool as Hrithik Shokeen enrages him with a hand gesture

The Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders share a long-standing rivalry that dates back to the tournament’s inaugural season. As a result, there is a great deal of intensity and enthusiasm among players to outdo their opponents, which often leads to tense situations on the field.

During their 32nd meeting in the IPL, which took place on Sunday at the legendary Wankhede Stadium, there was a heated exchange of words between KKR captain Nitish Rana and Mumbai bowler Hrithik Shokeen. The situation was intense, and it was only when Suryakumar Yadav intervened that the altercation came to an end.

Rana charges at Shokeen

The incident took place in the ninth over of the match when Kolkata Knight Riders were put into bat by Mumbai Indians’ stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav. KKR captain Nitish Rana charged down the track against a delivery from Hrithik Shokeen, but unfortunately miscued it, and the ball went high up in the air but not far enough before it landed comfortably in the hands of Mumbai’s fielder Ramandeep Singh stationed in the deep. As a result, Rana’s knock came to an end at just 5 off 10, and KKR were three wickets down.

A slightly furious Rana started walking towards the KKR dugout, and it was then that Hrithik confronted him. Nitish Rana, who was already disappointed with his dismissal, appeared to have lost his cool and reacted strongly to Hrithik Shokeen’s words. To make matters worse, Shokeen gestured with his hand for Rana to walk away, which only seemed to further infuriate the KKR captain. Rana was visibly angry and shouting at Shokeen, with the altercation becoming more heated by the minute.  This led to a heated argument between the two players, with Rana charging at Hrithik in a fit of rage

However, Suryakumar Yadav and other Mumbai players quickly rushed in and pulled Rana away, trying to calm the situation down. Rana was seen angrily pointing and talking toward Hrithik before turning around and walking back toward the dugout.
