IPL 2023: Here’s the reason why Trent Boult not playing today’s IPL Match against Chennai Super Kings

On Thursday, April 27, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the 37th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 would take place between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Royals are in third place this season after winning four of their last seven games. They will be trying to get back to winning after losing their last two games. The Royals lost their most recent match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven runs because they were unable to successfully chase down the 190-run target. While the spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal each grabbed one wicket, Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma both took two wickets.

As usual there was a huge roar for MS Dhoni at the toss. Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. CSK went with the same team making no changes to their lineup. However, RR made one change to their team by replacing Trent Boult with Adam Zampa.

Why is Trent Boult not playing today?

Sanju Samson at the toss said that the fast bowler will be missing this match due to a niggle. He has been injured and thus Adam Zampa replaced him. This is a big blow for the Royals as Trent Boult has been their mainstay with the ball in the powerplay. He has been giving early wickets for Rajasthan.

What did the captains say at the toss?

“It looks like a really good wicket to bat on,” their captain Sanju Samson reasons. “We will take the learnings from the last game but each and every game, opponent, and conditions are different. We would have liked to see more pink here than yellow (laughs)Boulty misses out with a niggle, and Adam Zampa comes in.”

“We would have bowled first,” says CSK captain MS Dhoni. “This pitch here has decent amount of pace but the bounce is on the lower side so bowlers need to adapt soon. At the end of the day, you need characters, we are trying to build characters, trying to convince them to focus on process. The result doesn’t matter. We are playing the same side.”
