IPL 2023: Here’s the reason why Mark Wood is not playing today’s IPL Match against Rajasthan Royals

As the excitement for the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals builds up, fans were left disappointed to learn that Mark Wood will not be playing for the Lucknow Super Giants today. The news came as a surprise, especially after the fast bowler made a strong comeback in the last two games.

The two captains, Sanju Samson and KL Rahul walked out to the middle for the toss. Rajasthan’s skipper Sanju Samson won the toss at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur and decided to bowl first. It is worth noting that Rajasthan Royals are playing a game at their home turf almost after 4 years. However, when the team sheets arrived, fans were disappointed to see Mark Wood’s name was not on it.

Why is Mark Wood not playing today?

The absence of Mark Wood from the playing XI has left fans questioning the team management’s decision. The fact that captain KL Rahul did not provide any reason for the change has only added to the confusion.

Twitter has been buzzing with comments from disappointed fans, who were eagerly looking forward to seeing Mark Wood in action once again. Many have taken to social media to express their disappointment and demand an explanation from the team management.

However, in the midst of this disappointment, there is a silver lining. Naveen ul Haq, a talented cricketer from Afghanistan, has been named as a replacement for Mark Wood. While fans may be disappointed with the change, they can take comfort in the fact that the team management has selected a capable replacement.

Wood had missed a game earlier as well when he was down with flu but he had recovered in time to be a part of the Playing XI for the last two games. While the real reason for him missing out on today’s game against Rajasthan Royals is still unknown, we can only hope he’s fine and has not been injured.
