IPL 2022 Auction: Lucknow Super Giants Review

One of the two news teams of the Indian Premier League Lucknow Super Giants had former IPL winning captain Goutam Gambhir on their auction table and the intense discussions gave hint of their pre-auction preparation. Once the auction got over, Lucknow Super Giants looked one of the most balanced and sorted sides of the league. They already had KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi and they covered the remaining bases in the auction. Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul will form a fine opening pair at the top followed by the likes of Manish Pandey, Krunal Pandya, Stoinis down the order. The fast-bowling duo of Avesh Khan and Mark Wood looks competent with backup available as well.

Overall Lucknow’s line-up looks good, but they surely lack more names in spin department with Bishnoi being their only reliable option. They could have added one experienced spinner in the side. Pandya is likely to be used as the second spinner with Hooda may chip in too. Lucknow have a strong bowling attack with a bunch of experienced, attacking named in the middle-order suited for the format. On the other hand, they secured the services of six international all-rounders with a clear focus of attacking cricket. Whatever Lucknow Super Giants lack, they do have the potential to work on it with the strengths they have as they do appear as one of the strongest sides of the league post the auction.
