IPL 2021: CSK CEO Speaks on the Possibility of Shifting Camps

As pet CSK CEO, Suresh Raina will be joining the franchise’s training camp around March 21. In an interview with InsideSport, Kasi Viswanath said that they are waiting for the veteran player to wear the yellow jersey again.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan informed that Suresh Raina, the veteran batsman of the side will be joining the team soon around March 21. “There is no problem. He has some personal commitments and taken permission from the team for joining a bit late. Players are coming individually and joining the camp whenever they are ready and available. Lets respect every individual’s decision on this.”

Viswanath also added, “He has communicated to us that he will join the camp around the 21st. We are eagerly waiting for him and looking forward to joining us.”

Suresh Raina has represented the Chennai Super Kings in nine IPL seasons. In 164 matches, he has scored 4,527 runs and is the highest run-scorer of the side. He had pulled out of IPL 2020 in the UAE just weeks before the tournament. His absence was visible in the CSK performance which turned out to be their worst performance till date in the league. The Super Kings will hope for a better performance this year, given that one of their mainstays are returning to the set-up.

CSK Camp Shifting

The BCCI meanwhile announced the schedule for IPL 2021. According to the scheduled fixtures, no team will be playing at the home ground. Chennai Super Kings will play five of their games at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kasi Vishwanathan was asked about shifting camp. He informed, “Yes, certainly we will think about the possibility of shifting our camp, but a decision will be taken in a week’s time. As of now, we are starting our camp in Chennai with the players who are available.”
