Virender Sehwag wants Kings XI Punjab to open the innings with Chris Gayle for their upcoming game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 31. The West Indies great who hasn’t played a single game in the league so far, has been backed by former Indian opener.
Gayle to comeback

Unfortunately, currently KXIP are in last place on the table with just one win from seven games. they at least need six more victories to stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Chris Gayle, after missing all of the IPL matches till now is reportedly set to play his first IPL 2020 match.
After a few defeats, Gayle’s inclusion was in the was backed by many. Which is why Chris Gayle was almost set to play the last two-three KIXP matches. However, he had to miss it due to his stomach issue. Now the Universe Boss is back and Sehwag said, “News is that Chris Gayle is back after chilling in the hospital. The youngsters weren’t able to make a dent, now bring Gayle on!”

On the show “Viru ki Baithak, Virender Sehwag further explained why he wants Gayle to open against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said, “Note that Gayle’s record against Bangalore is impeccable. An average of 54, and his strike rate is known to all bowlers. So let Gayle open with the Serious Man Mayank (Agarwal), and KL can come in at No.3 to maintain the balance of the team.”
As far as the numbers are concerned, Chris Gayle is the 9th highest scorer in the IPL with 4484 runs in 125 matches at 41.13 with six hundreds and 28 half-centuries. He has also hit the most sixes (326), most number of hundreds (6) in the history of IPL and he holds the record of the highest individual score (175 not out) as well.
