IPL 2020: Three players CSK might target in the auction

Chennai Super Kings are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League with a win percentage of 61.28% and a record of reaching the playoffs in every season they have participated. They also go for a stable team and look to maintain the team combination. However, age is a bit of concern nowadays and some of their biggest stars like MS Dhoni, Shane Watson, and Imran Tahir have only one or two seasons left in their long career. CSK management should look to fill these potential gaps during the auction.

Aaron Finch

Australia’s limited over captain Aaron Finch is currently one of the top T20 batsmen in the world. He was not part of IPL 2019 and will be part of the IPL auction this time where many franchises are expected to show interest in him. Finch has the experience of 272 T20 matches and boasts of a strike rate above 140. He has seven T20 Hundred and 56 fifties. He also has the highest individual score in T20 Internationals and can build a brilliant opening partnership with Watson.

Alzarri Joseph

Along with the young Lungi Ngidi, CSK team management can also look for young West Indian star Alzarri Joseph. Joseph had a short but memorable first season in IPL 2019. Already a well-known star due to his heroics in 2016 U19 World Cup, Joseph joined Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne and had dream debut as he took 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he played two more matches but went wicketless. Then due to a shoulder injury, he was out of the IPL. Joesph has been released by MI and CSK can go for him to add some firepower in their bowling.

Hayden Walsh Jr.

Imran Tahir had a sensational in IPL 2019 when finished as the top wicket-taker with 26 wickets. However, his age demands a back-up for him in the team.  One of the options for CSK management is Hayden Walsh Jr. The American born dual international will provide leg-spin backup and had a good Caribbean Premier League before delivering a good show against Afghanistan in limited-overs cricket. Walsh was the highest wicket-taker in CPL including a five-wicket haul. There would be high demand for Walsh and CSK will face tough challenges to take him on board.
