IPL 2020: Strengths and Weakness of Royal Challengers Bangalore in UAE

Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the biggest teams in the Indian Premier League. Often, they come up with star-studded combinations but fail to deliver. With a team consisting of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle earlier, they had some great individual records but finally could not deliver consistently and faltered in the last hurdle. Out of the last 12 editions, they have three final appearances but all ended in defeat. Lack of a good team balance was their recurring problem for them and they would like to find the best possible combination for the conditions in UAE as early as possible.

Squad

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Gurkeerat Mann, Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa, Dale Steyn, Isuru Udana, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Pavan Deshpande Parthiv Patel, Joshua Philippe, Shahbaz Ahamad

Overseas Big names

AB de Villiers, Aaron Finch, and Dale Steyn would be the biggest names in their overseas contingent. Whereas de Villiers and Finch would expect to play regularly at the top order, Steyn may get limited opportunity keeping in mind his fitness issues and the condition. They have spent a good amount of money on Chris Morris who is an important addition to their team and will be their premier all-rounder along with Moeen Ali. The opportunity for Adam Zampa, Isuru Udana, and Joshua Philippe will be limited as they are mostly the backup options.

Indian Stars

Obviously Virat Kohli is their biggest star and captain Kohli would love to add IPL in his kitty this time. He would also expect a good season with the bat after a long break. Their Indian bowling attack consisting of Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Umesh Yadav, and Navdeep Saini looks impressive with good wicket-taking ability. Although how much support the pacers will get from the UAE pitches, that will be something to consider. However, in batting they must depend more on domestic stars like Parthiv Patel and Devdutt Padikkal. They have couple of exciting Indian all-rounders also in Shivam Dube and Shahbaz Ahmed who can be rotated to maintain the team balance.
