Although Kings XI Punjab has not been a very successful team in the league, the tally of this encounter is currently in favor of Punjab. With 14-10, KL Rahul’s side takes the upper hand here at present.
Delhi Capitals have a good mix of Indian and Overseas stars. Among the overseas one, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul will be joining the squad after a successful Caribbean Premier League. The experienced Indian core is the strength of Delhi Capitals. They have Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant to choose from. Moreover, the presence of Ravichandran Ashwin is going to be important. The off-spinner will like to showcase his mettle against his former oppositions. Kagiso Rabada will be their key weapon and should deliver at powerplay and death.
The ability of Ishant Sharma will depend a lot more on the player himself. The conditions in the UAE will not help him much and so Sharma must trust his variations. The strongest member of the team is their captain, KL Rahul. The superstar has shown his efficiency in the last two IPL and he will hope to deliver at the same consistency this time as well. A bunch of players like Nicolas Pooran, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Sheldon Cottrell will come straight from the CPL. Having a set of in-form players is definitely a forte. Mujeeb ur Rahman is having a great time and going to lead the spin department. The experienced Mohammad Shami will take charge of the fast bowling unit.
How Mujeeb ur Rahman manages to fill in Ashwin’s position is going to be in focus. With the departure of Ashwin the spin department pf, Punjab lacks experience. But the biggest question for KXIP will be to choose between Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran. After the explosive ton in the recently concluded England-Australia series, opting out Maxwell could be tricky. On the other hand, it is less likely that Pooran gets featured ahead of Gayle and Maxwell.
