IPL 2020: Lara Explains What went Wrong for Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings who are already of the playoffs race will be playing Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday at Dubai. Meanwhile, the Caribbean batting legend Brian Lara shared his thoughts on their IPL 2020 performance.

Lara on CSK problems

Chennai Super Kings would never like to remember this season of Indian Premier League. as one of the most successful teams in the history of the league, their performance this season has been absolutely contrasting. With wight points from 12 matches, CSK are already out of the equation. What went wrong for the side this time? Experts and fans have a lot to say. However, the average age of the team has been a problem for them since the beginning and all agree to that. Now Brian Lara spoke about the same on Star Sports’ Dugout.

Lara mentioned, “I think they (CSK) have got a lot of older players. There are not any young players coming through the line-up. You look at it. Even their overseas players, they have been around for a long time. So, they have backed experience over youth, and this has really turned upside down for them. It’s just an unbelievable season so far.”

Lara on hopes from CSK

Lara further added, “You know, every time they turn up, we’re very hopeful that CSK is going to turn it around. We know 3-4 games ago they were in a little bit of a situation where they had to start winning.”

He explained further how all had faith on Mahendra Singh Dhoni to work as a gamechanger of CSK. “We all came here thinking this was going to be the time when Dhoni turns things around with his team. And game after game, it just went, and they just kept hoping. But it’s a situation where they can just try to build from next year. In the few coming games that they have, see what they can do with the younger players with they’ve got.”
