IPL 2020: Former KKR Bowler in Favour of Dinesh Karthik as Captain

Dinesh Karthik might have faced criticism for his few decisions in the last few IPL matches, but he still has the support of many. Brad Hogg, former Kolkata Knight Riders spinner explained why Dinesh Karthik should not be replaced by Eoin Morgan, as demanded by fans.

Karthik needs to utilized Morgan’s skills

KKR’s lost by 18 runs against Delhi Capitals last week created a storm on social media. Fans got furious over some of the decisions taken by Kolkata Knight Riders‘ management. They started criticizing the skipper and demanded Eoin Morgan as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in place of Dinesh Karthik. However, there is someone with a KKR background who believes otherwise. He does not agree to the move and gave his reason for the same on his YouTube Channel.

Ali Khan to Stay Back. Not yet Ruled out of IPL 2020

Brad Hogg, former Kolkata Knight Riders, and Australian bowler said, “Look, I’d love this move to make Eoin Morgan KKR captain. Morgan is a great captain, and when you got someone like that in your team, you got to utilise those skills. But Dinesh Karthik is doing a good job, but he has to utilise Morgan’s skills.”

In favour of Karthik as captain

The left-arm spinner further explained that having Morgan in the captaincy role means the side will have to continue with his as one of the four overseas players, no matter what. In case Morgan faces bad form, the team would not be able to do anything. In reply of a fan’s question, Hogg clearly explained this and told that he would like to stick to Dinesh Karthik.

“You gotta realise in their team they can only play four overseas players. If Morgan starts finding a little bit of misfortune with his form, they have to bring in Tom Banton. Having him as captain will make it difficult to drop Morgan. So, I’d stick with Dinesh Karthik, but utilise Morgan’s experience.”

KKR will play CSK on Wednesday in their next outing.
