IPL 2019: Imran Tahir celebrates in Whistle Podu style. Watch Video
Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir is one of the most excitable cricketers in the ground. Each time he picks up a wicket, he celebrates like it’s the last wicket of his career. The leg-spinner would take off immediately after getting the batsman out and finish the long run with a typical fist pump.

The South African is representing Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2019. CSK has a huge fan base, especially at home. The fans fill up the Chepauk each time the Men in Yellow take the field. Tahir is gaining popularity amongst the Chennai fans with his great run for the team.

In the recent game against Kolkata Knight Riders, he took the celebrations to an altogether different level. While KKR was batting in the 23rd match of the season, the leggie came on to bowl the 9th over of the innings. The visitors had lost 4 wickets already and the skipper Dinesh Karthik, along with Shubman Gill, was at the crease.

Karthik was facing the 4th ball of the over. He tried to loft the pitched-up delivery over mid-wicket. But the batsman only managed to hit it as far as the man in the circle. Harbhajan Singh took a sharp catch to dismiss DK for 19 runs.

Karthik was perhaps the biggest wicket of the innings and the bowler was well and truly aware of that. As soon as Bhajji plucked it out of thin air, Tahir was off. In his typical manner, he ran with his both fists up in the air. He blew a kiss to the crowd and then did a little dance.

Then, he imitated blowing a whistle that got the crowd going. “Whistle Podu” is the slogan of CSK and the capacity crows totally loved it. The spinner ended up picking one more wicket and bagged figures of 21/2 from 4 overs.
