India’s Slip and England’s Rise: Shake-up in WTC Points Table After Thrilling Test Match

After a long time, Team India got a chance to play a Test series on home soil. They are locking horns at home. In the first Test match of the series, they faced a heartbreaking defeat. This defeat is India’s second defeat in the ongoing World Test Championship. England defeated India by 28 runs. Team India’s 28-Run Defeat:

The second innings was not desired for India. Rohit Sharma got dismissed on 39 runs. Shubman Gill walked away on a duck. Shreyas Iyer scored 13 runs and walked away. Jadeja was run out by Ben Stokes on a crucial point. The Indian batters failed to make a partnership that could save the game for them. English bowler Tom Hartley registered an amazing spell of 7/62 in 26.2 overs. England defeated India in 28 runs.

India’s recent defeat against England in Hyderabad has caused them to slip to fifth place in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table. This loss marks India’s second in the ongoing cycle, with their previous defeat against South Africa in Centurion. Currently, India holds 26 points out of the 60 available, placing them fifth with 43.33 percentage points.

On the other hand, despite their victory over India, England remains in eighth place with 21 points. They’ve won three out of their six matches, earning them 29.16 percentage points. However, they faced over-rating penalties during the Ashes 2023 series against Australia.

South Africa holds the second position with 50 percentage points from two matches, while New Zealand and Bangladesh share the third and fourth positions. Following India’s loss to England, the points table witnessed a shuffle, but England retained their eighth position.
