Indian Premier League 2024 Orange Cap: Updated After Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Match No. 58

Another thrilling match at the most beautiful cricket stadium in India. On the 58th match of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings locked horns at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. While batting in the first innings, the Dharamsala crowd enjoyed the vintage Kohli but got heartbroken too as King Kohli missed his well-deserved century. While opening the innings for RCB, Faf du Plessis and Will Jackes walked out quickly. In the 5th over, they were 43/2. But they bounced back from that end and turned the tide in their favor. 

Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar maintained an impactful partnership. Rajat Patidar completed his half-century and played a knock of 55 runs in 23 balls. After his dismissal, Cameron Green joined Kohli and played an innings of 46 runs in 27 balls. Virat Kohli missed his exceptional innings on 92 runs in 47 balls and missed a well-deserved century. But that knock was impactful enough to boost the innings. In 20 overs, he scored 241/7. 

Punjab’s Batting Collapse:

While batting in the second innings, Punjab Kings lost Prabhsimran Singh’s wicket early. After that, Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw tried to build an impactful partnership. But Bairstow walked away after scoring 27 runs in 16 balls. Rpssouw scored a crucial half-century and played an innings of 61 runs in just 27 balls. Shashank Singh scored 37 runs in 19 balls. 

After that, their innings just got halted. Sam Curran scored 22 runs in 16 runs. Ashutosh Sharma scored 8 runs in 5 balls. Harshal Patel was dismissed on a duck. Arshdeep Singh walked away on 4 runs. While chasing the big target of 242 runs, they fell short and faced a defeat of 60 runs.
