Indian Premier League 2024 Orange Cap: Updated After Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Match No. 55

IPL 2024 recorded another thrilling match on its record book. The 55th match of the tournament saw an intense clash between  Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Wankhede spectators enjoyed another exciting match. In this crucial battle, batters from both teams showcased some exciting performances. The battle in the Orange Cap table got hyped up. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Batting Display:

Mumbai Indians locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mumbai. This fixture was crucial for the Sunrisers as they could qualify for the play-offs. While batting first, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave a decent start. But Sharma walked away after scoring 11 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy walked away after scoring 20 runs in 15 balls. Travis Head missed a well-deserved half-century after being dismissed in 48 runs in 30 balls. 

Marco Jansen added 17 runs on the board. Shahbaz Ahmad scored 10 runs in 12 balls. Skipper Pat Cummins played an unbeaten knock of 35 runs in 17 balls. That knock was needed at the end to boost up team’s score. Coming as an impact player, Sanvir Singh remained unbeaten on 8 runs. In 20 overs, they scored 173 runs. 

Mumbai’s Exceptional Effort:

While batting in the second innings, Mumbai Indians faced setbacks initially after losing three consecutive wickets. Ishan Kishan walked out scoring just 9 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 4 runs runs. Namam Dhir walked away on a duck. In the 5th over, Mumbai Indians was 31/3. Standing on that point, they need a mighty knock and a partnership.

Coming to bat at that crucial point, Suryakumar Yadav took the responsibility and played a match-winning knock. In just 51 balls, he scored an unbeaten 102 runs. That gave a huge boost to the innings. Tilak Verma gave him perfect company. He was unbeaten on 37 runs in 32 balls. They won the match by 7 wickets
