Indian Premier League 2024 Orange Cap:  Updated After Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants Match No 67

It is almost the end of the group stage of IPL 2024. Fans are now counting the days for the playoffs.  On the 67th match of the IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians met at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As both teams are out of the playoff race, they both tried to end their IPL 2024 journey on a positive note. Their impactful batting performance brought some notable changes to the orange Cap table.

In this season, Lucknow Super Giants are seen struggling with their batting. In this match, they batted first and that struggle continued. As Quinton de Kock was not playing the game, Devdutt Padikkal opened the innings along with skipper KL Rahul. But the youngster went back to the pavilion on a duck. After that, Marcus Stoinis joined the skipper and played an innings of 28 runs in 22 balls.  After that, Deepak Hooda also walked away after scoring 11 runs in 9 balls. 

After all those early setbacks, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran stood tall. They made a 100+ run partnership. Nicholas Pooran played a knock of 75 runs in 29 balls. KL Rahul scored 55 runs in 41 balls. After their dismissals, Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten on 22 runs and Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 12 runs. Depending on those crucial knocks, Lucknow scored 214/6 in 20 overs. 

Mumbai’s Commendable Effort:

While batting in the second innings, Mumbai Indians gave a good start. The opening pair, Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis added 88 runs maintaining an impactful partnership. Brevis walked away after scoring 23 runs in 20 balls. After that, Suryakumar Yadav came to bat and walked out on a duck. Ishan Kishan was also dismissed on 14 runs in 15 balls.

Hardik Pandya scored 16 runs in 13 balls. Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir played two incredible knocks. Rohit Sharma played a knock of 68 runs in 38 balls. And Naman Dhir played an unbeaten knock of 62 runs only in 28 balls. Those knocks gave big boost to the team but those efforts fell short. Lucknow Super Giants defeated them by 18 runs.
