India vs Australia 2018: Ashish Nehra believes India has the bowling to beat the hosts

Team India is set to travel to Australia soon. A series across all 3 formats awaits the Men in Blue down under. The hosts have been going through a turmoil after the suspension of Steve Smith and David Warner. Many believe it’s the best chance for India to win in Australia. Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra also believes that Virat Kohli & Co. can inflict a victory.

Nehra feels that Australia is undergoing a transformation. He reckons that Indian bowlers can make the difference. But they also need to take into consideration the flat wickets and the warm conditions.

“Australian team is going through a massive restructuring and this is India’s best chance without doubt. We have the bowling attack to beat them. But we need to be mindful that conditions will be much tougher Down Under where the wickets will be flat and weather would be on warmer side,” Nehra was quoted as saying by Times Now.

Australia will be different than England, reckons Nehra

India’s previous overseas assignment was in England this year. Even though they lost the Test series 4-1, the bowlers were the standout performers. All the pacers were brilliant in the helpful conditions. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami troubled the Englishmen all along. Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasn’t available in England but he makes his way back in Australia.

But Nehra feels that unlike England, there won’t be much movement available from the decks in Australia. The ball will change to Kookaburra that doesn’t swing a lot like the Duke in England. Also, the surfaces will be flat and the batsmen can settle in for long by getting a feel of the conditions.

“In Australia, you will get extra bounce but there will only be lateral movement till the kookaburra seam doesn’t flatten. It won’t be like England where the ball swings all day. Once you get adjusted to the bounce, batsmen can hit you all day,” added Nehra.
