Following their tour of the West Indies, the Indian national cricket team will go to Ireland for three Twenty20 International matches. It has been confirmed that both sides will meet in August. According to an ICC (International Cricket Council) announcement, the series between India and Ireland will begin on August 18 and conclude on August 23. It is also worth noting that before the series, Team India will face the West Indies in a multi-format series beginning on July 12. Both teams will play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and five Twenty20 Internationals.
The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is yet to announce the dates for the side’s Ireland tour; nevertheless, an ICC release stated that the series will take place in Malahide in the latter half of August. The last time India played Ireland in a Twenty20 International series was in June 2022.
Hardik Pandya led the team in the series due to the unavailability of many senior players who were competing against England in the Test series. India overcame Ireland 2-0 in their previous series, and it will be interesting to see if the Men in Blue can repeat the feat in August.
Ireland Cricket Chief Executive said
Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, came forth ahead of the series to congratulate the BCCI for traveling to Ireland and expressed his delight at the prospect of facing the Indian team.
“We’re delighted to welcome India Men back to Ireland for the second time in 12 months, We saw two sold-out matches in 2022, so to have a three-match series this year should give even more fans the opportunity to enjoy what is always a memorable occasion,” Warren Deutrom was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
“Our sincere thanks to the BCCI, first, for their continued inclusion of Ireland in the Indian team’s busy itinerary and also for working with us to ensure as fan-friendly a schedule a possible – having matches on a Friday and Sunday will hopefully maximise availability of fans,” he added.
