The fever for the T20 World Cup 2024 is gearing up well. All the teams are preparing well ahead tournament. One batch of the Indian team has already reached New York for their World Cup assignment. Earlier this year, ICC released the best teams of the year in the year. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was named the ODI team of the year. In the Indian camp of the T20 World Cup, he has received his cap for the ODI team of the year.Â

In 2023, the world of cricket witnessed significant events, with the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup standing out as the pinnacle. Hosted by India after a prolonged wait, the tournament showcased remarkable talent. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma emerged as a standout performer, amassing 597 runs in 11 matches, trailing only behind teammate Virat Kohli. Despite a slow start against Australia, Rohit’s resilience shone through as he delivered a breathtaking 131 runs from 84 balls against Afghanistan, earning the Player of the Match accolade.Â
His consistency was evident with an 86-run contribution against Pakistan and consistently crossing the 40-run mark in subsequent matches, including the final against Australia.
Following his stellar performance, Rohit Sharma secured a spot in the prestigious ICC ODI Team of the Year 2023. Notably, he was appointed as the team’s captain, a testament to his leadership qualities and remarkable batting prowess showcased throughout the tournament.
Rohit Received the Special Cap:
The ICC announced those teams earlier this year. But the Indian players have the special cap now. In a similar way, Rohit Sharma also got the special cap by the ICC just before the beginning of the tournament. After the players received the caps, the Indian cricket team shared those heartwarming pictures on social media, and that has gone viral.Â
India’s T20 World Cup journey is set to start soon. Before heading to the big event, Team India will face Bangladesh in a warm-up match. After that, on the 5th June, they will face Ireland in their inaugural T20 World Cup fixture.
