ICC changes schedule of the T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made modifications to the schedule of the T20 World Cup 2024 as tickets for the tournament went live on February 1. The ninth edition of the tournament is set to commence on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA. The opening match will be played between Canada and the USA at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas on June 1.

In the announcement regarding ticketing for the event, the ICC revealed changes to the dates of the two semi-final matches. The Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago, initially scheduled to host the second semi-final on June 27, will now host the first semi-final on June 26 with June 27 serving as the reserve day.

Conversely, the Providence Stadium in Guyana, which was originally slated to host the first semi-final on June 26, will now host the second semi-final on June 27 with June 28 as the reserve day. These adjustments have been made to allow adequate travel time for the teams progressing to the final.

The ICC has also confirmed the start times for all matches except the final, which will take place on June 29 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. India’s campaign will kick off against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Notably, all of India’s four group matches will commence at 8:00 PM IST, with the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash scheduled for Sunday, June 9 in New York. To ensure fair ticket distribution, the ICC has implemented a public ticket ballot from February 1 to February 7. Applicants can apply for up to six tickets for their preferred matches and will receive confirmation via email, along with a payment link. Unpaid tickets will be made available for general sale on February 22, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
