In an interaction, Rohit Sharma shared his excitement to face Pakistan in the red ball format.

Rohit on India-Pakistan Matches:

Cricket is not complete without rivalries. In the cricket world, there is no rivalry like India and Pakistan. Whenever these teams play, fans enjoy the match a bit extra. In the ICC tournaments, they are seen looking horns but in in Test format, they have not faced each other for a long time. In 2007, the neighbors came to India to play a three-match Test series and lost it by a 1-0 margin.

In the talk show by Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was asked about the India-Pakistan bilateral series, and he gave a positive sign. Rohit Said, “I totally believe that.” Rohit answered Vaughan’s question about whether it would help Test cricket if India and Pakistan played abroad due to uncertainty in playing in either country because of political tensions. Rohit emphasized the importance of ensuring the health of Test cricket, suggesting that playing overseas could be beneficial if it allows the teams to compete while avoiding the challenges posed by the current political situation in their home countries.

Praising the opponent, the Indian skipper said, “They’re a good team. They have got a superb bowling line-up. So it’ll be a good contest especially if you play overseas conditions. That’ll be awesome.”

Opinion on India Pakistan Overseas Series:

India-Pakistan matches have a different vibe. Efforts have been made by officials from both cricket boards to restart bilateral matches, even considering playing in neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the UAE. Additionally, the England Cricket Board and Cricket Australia have expressed their desire to host the important series in recent years. These initiatives highlight the willingness of cricketing nations to facilitate matches between India and Pakistan, despite challenges in playing in either country due to political tensions.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma expressed support for playing Test cricket against Pakistan,

even at a neutral venue. He is one of the first prominent Indian cricketers to openly comment on the topic, highlighting the potential for exciting matches between the arch-rivals.

He said, “Yeah, I would love to. At the end of the day, we want to be in contest and I think it will be a great contest between the two sides. We anyway play them in ICC trophies, so it doesn’t really matter. It’s just pure cricket that I’m looking at. I’m not interested in anything else. It’s pure cricket, game between bat and ball. It’ll be a great contest.”
