The World Cup is around the corner. Fans are excited because the biggest tournament is about to raise its curtain. The hype of this tournament is growing day by day. But within the World Cup fever, the West Indies Women’s team has created a history. They chased the highest T20 total in the history of Women’s T20s. They ended up chasing a total of 213 in the second match of the T20 series against Australia.

By chasing the highest total in T20, West Indies Women registered the biggest win against Australia. It was a high-voltage match. West Indies women’s team won the toss and decided to bowl first. While batting first, Australian opener AJ Healy got out on a golden duck. B.L. Mooney scored 29 in 22 balls including 5 boundaries. Star Aussie player, Ellyse Perry scored a brilliant 70 in 46 balls. She smashed 5 boundaries and 4 over boundaries. Litchfield scored 52 in 19 balls and remained not out. G. Wareham scored 32 in 13 balls and remained not out. They scored 212/6 in 20 overs.
In the second innings, West Indies gave an outstanding start. Captain Hayley Matthews scored 132 in just 64 balls. She smashed 20 boundaries and 5 over boundaries. Her strike rate was 206.25. Stefanie Taylor gave her a perfect company. She scored 59 in 41 balls. She smashed 11 boundaries with a strike rate of 143.90. West Indies Women’s team chased the giant total in 19.5 overs. The major credit goes to the captain. She did her job perfectly. They won the match by 7 wickets.
Matthews’s comment:
Matthews was on fire. She scored her century in only 53 balls. Just not with the balls, the captain got her job done with the ball also. She took 3 wickets in 36 runs. This was a compact captain’s performance. At the end of the match, she said, “ I don’t reckon any days of cricket have ever been like that for me. Today was quite incredible. I can’t find words.
The entire team of WI was overjoyed. They all celebrated with their captain. The calmness of Matthews ensured the win. Because of the complete team effort West Indies chased down the highest T20 record in Women’s T20 history. With the win, West Indies tied the series 1-1. One more match is left to decide the winner of the series.
