Mustafizur had a promising debut season with the five-time champions in the 2024 Indian Premier League. In 9 matches, he secured 14 wickets with an average of 22.71 and an economy rate of 9.26. The left-arm pacer played a vital role in several victories for the franchise. His performances were crucial to the team’s success, showcasing his potential as a valuable asset in the league.
To fill his plays, Mitchell Santner comes in. With that match, he is going to play his first match of this season. In the previous season, Santner was there in the squad. In the 2023 IPL, Mitchell Santner featured in 3 matches, claiming 12 wickets at an average of 27.00 and an economy rate of 6.75. His best bowling figures were 2/28.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad updated about the change. After losing the toss, he said, “We’ve just stuck to our process and doing little things right. We don’t look at the track record of the opposition, we focus on ourselves and see what we can do right. This season there have been a lot of injuries, flus and forced changes so we’ve had to tinker with our team. I’d say losing 10 tosses but winning 5 games is a positive. Santner comes in place of Fizz.”
