David Warner’s Absence:

On the 40th fixture of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals is facing Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi will be playing their second home match at the stadium. In the previous match, Delhi faced a major setback as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them by a huge margin. They are all boosted up to come back. 

Before facing the Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals made an interesting change in the playing xi. David Warner is missing out on the game. The reason is not revealed but it is more like a strategic move by the Delhi Capitals management. David Warner’s off-form can be a reason for that. 

The legendary Aussie opener David Warner has been seen struggling with the bat in this season. He failed to take on the challenges and pushed the team in crucial moments. In this season, Warner played 7 matches and scored only 167 runs. Before facing GT, Sai Hope replaced Warner in the playing xi. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant updated about the change. He said, “Two changes – David Warner sits out and Hope replaces him, Sumit Kumar replaces Lalit Yadav.”

Toss Update:

Initially, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first. After winning the toss, he said, “We will bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, we’ve been chasing well in the last couple of games. Means a lot to me (on playing 100 IPL matches), have come a long way, still a long way to go, but the focus is on today’s match. It’s cricket, there’ll always be ups and downs, you want to play the way you’re good at. We’re playing the same side.”
