Andre Russell who has been a match-winner for Kolkata Knight Riders in many matches over the years is not playing the IPL 2021 final against Chennai Super Kings. Russell was initially rested for an injury he sustained in the league. Shakib Al Hasan played in his place and had modest contributions. Kolkata Knight Riders went on to win important Playoffs matches without Russell. Clearly, there was no reason of changing the winning combination. Moreover, with T20 World Cup starting in next few days, more rest for Russell would be good for participation in the campaign for his country too.

Eoin Morgan won the toss and expectedly decided to bowl first. He said, “We are gonna have a bowl, the wicket looks good and there’s some dew around. We are gonna give it everything tonight. We are going with the same team.”

Squad
