The 72nd match for IPL 2024 is being held between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.Â
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first. The move is a well thought out one, considering how the dew affects batting in the second innings of a match.Â
Today’s match is an eliminator, and as the name suggests, the losing team will get eliminated from the IPL 2024 season, despite coming close to the trophy.
Maxwell out on a golden duck, equals DK in IPL ducks
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star batter Glenn Maxwell is now on the same level as his IPL teammate Dinesh Karthik in the list for most ducks.
Both the players have gotten 18 ducks each, which is the highest number in history of IPL. Maxwell got his 18th duck in the Eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals today at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck on Wednesday by off-spinner R Ashwin, with the Aussie batter holing out to Dhruv Jurel at long on.
When DK made the record
Earlier in the same season, Dinesh Karthik had surpassed Glenn Maxwell in the same feat. Karthik was caught and dismissed for a duck in RCB’s home game, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
DK had gotten his 18th duck in the match, which got him one more point than Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell.
The two RCB players are now followed by Rohit Sharma on the list, with 17 ducks to his name.
