Kolkata Knight Riders former captain and cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently shared a post on his X handle where he could be seen posing with Bollywood mega-star and franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. The duo is related to the Kolkata Knight Riders in some special way. Gautam Gambhir led KKR from 2011 to 2017, when he also paved the way for the team to be announced as winners in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
Gautam’s post with Shah Rukh boosted excitement among KKR fans, which read, “He is not just the king of Bollywood but the king of hearts.” Every time we meet, I go back with endless love and respect. There is so much to learn from you. Simply the best… SRK”, also adding some heart emoticons to it.
Nitish Rana’s hint on Gambhir’s influx
The excitement level further amplified when KKR’s captain Nitish Rana retweeted Gautam’s post, captioning it “True kings in their own fields! Could this be a sign of homecoming? Just wondering.”
Gautam Gambhir has proved most fortunate for KKR till date; therefore, his captaincy holds a special place in the hearts of KKR fans. Although he has been mentoring the Lucknow Super Giants since last year, he is still welcomed and greeted with warm faces on KKR’s side.
While the post by Nitish hinted at the significant homecoming of Gautam Gambhir, LSG has been speculative about his post. Lucknow Super Giants were quick to troll Rana for his enigmatic post, as it was still uncertain whether Gambhir was going to rejoin KKR or not.
KKR’s staging since Gambhir’s withdrawal from the team
The performance of KKR has received a setback ever since legend Gautam Gambhir left its side in 2017. The last time it ended on a good note was in the 2021 season, when KKR emerged as runners-up against the Chennai Super Kings.
As compared to them, LSG’s run score was decent, and they eventually made it to the play-offs in the 2022 IPL season.
