The 63rd match for IPL 2024 season paused before it even started. The match is to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders became the first team this season to qualify for the playoffs. However, chances are too thick for Gujarat Titans which is placed at the 8th spot on the points table with 5 victories in 12 matches.
The toss has currently been delayed due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad.
What Phil Salt said about Gambhir and Chrys Lynn before the match
Speaking to the broadcasters before today’s match, KKR player Phil Salt confessed how the team’s mentor Gautam Gambhir still wants the team to win the match and score 2 more points, despite being selected for the playoffs.
“(On finishing in top 2) It is big for us. Chat before the game today was about not letting up, turn up with the right attitude. GG (Gautam Gambhir) has been pretty solid with how he wants us to play as a team. He stressed on us to come here and still look for two points.”
Additionally, Salt admitted to having more lean muscle than Chris Lynn, who he is compared to the most.
“(On comparisons with Chris Lynn) I’ve got a bit more lean muscle than him. When you come into a new team, you want to come in and do well. Lynn did it for a few years here, but for me it has been more about myself and how I can better my abilities. (On IPL experience) Lots of different surfaces in India. But it doesn’t vary too much really. I’ve been going about it at Eden Gardens but we’ve got some good wickets away as well, it is just about assessing and adapting on the day.” Salt added.
