The Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, Sourav Ganguly is of the belief that the top 6 teams in the IPL2024 season might make it to the playoffs.
The statement was made on Friday, 9 May 2024 while DC is set to face off against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, 12 May at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.Â
DC currently holds the fifth spot on the points table while RCB is at the 7th place with the exact same points, I.e. 12.

Ganguly has said that he believes that this is not the first time in IPL that the top six franchises have a chance to make it into the playoffs.
He further added the next 10 days in the IPL 2024 season will be of high consequence, especially since the top six teams have the chance to confirm their place in the playoffs.
“I think it’s open for the majority of them (teams), I think the top six will be precise. It’s open for the top six to make it into the top four. It happens in every big tournament, but it’s not the first time in IPL, towards the business end of the tournament where the top six teams are open to qualification. These next 10 days will be crucial for every team,” said Ganguly.

According to Sourav, the top six have a high chance of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs.
The six teams who currently hold the top spots at the points table are Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sun Risers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.Â
Out of these, KKR and RR boast of 16 points each, CSK and SRH have 14 points while DC and LSG are currently at 12 points each.
