Gaikwad Praises Management and Dhoni for Polishing Dube’s Game After CSK’s Dominant Win

Chennai Super Kings continued their winning streak in IPL 2024, dismantling the Gujarat Titans by a massive 63 runs. Following the emphatic victory, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad lauded both the team management and MS Dhoni for their role in Shivam Dube’s recent success.

Management and Dhoni Deserve Credit for Dube’s Powerhouse Performance

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Gaikwad highlighted the crucial role the management and Dhoni played in honing Dube’s skills. “In terms of confidence, the management and Mahi bhai [Dhoni] worked with him personally,” Gaikwad said. “His confidence is very high. He knows his roles very well. Definitely he is a big plus for us.”

Dube’s knock was instrumental in propelling CSK to a formidable total. Coming in after the dismissal of the openers, he smashed a blistering 51 runs off just 23 balls, effectively taking the game away from Gujarat.  This dominant display is a testament to the collective effort invested in developing his batting prowess.

Ravindra’s Early Blaze Sets the Tone

Gaikwad also commended CSK’s young Kiwi opener, Rachin Ravindra, for his explosive batting at the top of the order. “Personally felt, Rachin batted brilliantly in the powerplay and took the game away,” Gaikwad remarked.

Ravindra’s quickfire 46 off 20 balls provided CSK with a flying start, setting the tone for a dominant batting performance.

Bowling and Fielding Round Out a Complete Performance

While the batting stole the spotlight, Gaikwad was sure to acknowledge the contributions of the bowling and fielding units as well.  The pace duo of Deepak Chahar (2/28) and Tushar Deshpande (2/21) spearheaded the bowling attack, effectively restricting the Gujarat Titans batsmen. Interestingly, the traditionally spin-dominant Chepauk pitch favoured the pacers in this match, highlighting the evolving nature of the surface.

Gaikwad further commended the team’s fielding effort, stating, “I’m impressed with the fielding as well. Maybe one or two youngsters we have extra this year and great effort from Jinks [Ajinkya Rahane], even in the last game he was running from one end to the other. Fielding is a big tick for us.”
