Gaikwad Drops Rachin Out Of The Playing XI Against LSG, Sehwag Left Baffled

After continuous chances given to him, Chennai Super KingsRachin Ravindra had been made to sit the match between LSG and CSK out. The New Zealand Left handed all-rounder has been going through a rough patch in his IPL journey this season.

Replacing him, Gaikwad, CSK’s new captain has put Daryl Mitchell in the playing eleven.

CSK are currently placed fourth in the points table with four wins in seven matches and look among the top teams set and ready to make the knockout stage. All their three losses were incurred in their away-games.

Sehwag disagrees with Gaikwad, Compares to previous season strategies

As Rachin Ravindra got sacked, numerous fans of the team have come upfront, showing their disagreement and baffle about the decision. Another person who openly showed his dislike about the idea, was Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag explained that this season, CSK have made some hurried decisions in their playing XI. This included getting Ajinkya Rahane to open and captain Gaikwad going one down. He then sent out a warning that every time CSK have looked confused over their strategy, they have failed to make the playoffs.

Talking about CSK’s gameplay this season, Sehwag said “They aren’t playing bad, but this is the first time I have seen Chennai making constant changes.”

“Gaikwad was opening, then Rahane was sent top of the order, now Gaikwad is back as opener and today Rachin Ravindra has been given a break. These are not good signs for CSK. Every time they have done that, they failed to make the playoffs. It’s not that Rachin batted horribly so far, couple of his innings were good.”

“Usually, CSK stick with the players. But first they benched Daryl Mitchell, now Rachin, it could be someone else in the next game. These are not good changes. And these are not tactical changes. I feel CSK look in bit of a haste in making these changes in the last few matches,” he added.

X tirade about Gaikwad’s Decision

Ruturaj being the new captain for CSK, has been under scrutiny of fans and cricket experts alike. While some fans try to relate his actions with the much loved, previous captain MS Dhoni, others are quick to judge the batsman on his mistakes.

While one fan says “Rachin and Rutu opening pair hasn’t worked yet cause of some reasons but it has a lot of potential so if they click well together they might win us the games on their own. Really hope now is the time otherwise it could be too late. Opening has been the core strength of CSK.” Siding with Gaikwad,

“I have never seen any international player struggle this much in CSK than Daryl Mitchell.

To be honest, he looks terrible as a batsman. No clue at all. His wc performance was a fluke i guess. CSK wasted 14cr on this

I will still prefer Rachin over him.” another argues.

Well, only time can tell whether Gaikwad is a genius, or if he dug himself a grave.
