Fast-Bowling Legend Ian Bishop Offers PHD To Bumrah On The Subject

Bumrah is unfailingly putting on impressive displays of his bowling prowess in TATA IPL 2024. The Indian quick has been consistent in delivering the most beautiful balls in the last few matches.

One of the many feathers on Jasprit’s hat was his performance in MI vs PBKS. The bowler took 3 wickets giving only 21 runs in 4 overs. He was followed by Gerald Coetzee who also nicked 3 wickets of PBKS while giving them 32 runs. It must be mentioned that it was ultimately Bumrah who took Punjab Kings’ Ashutosh Sharma out while the batsman was on the brink of bringing his team to victory.

Bishop’s metaphorical PHD praise was a very unique and widely accepted way of acknowledging Bumrah’s current form being on fire. Ian Bishop himself is a legendary pacer from West Indies who has now retired to become a commentator.

Ian Bishop goes on X to rave about Bumrah

After seeing Jasprit’s impeccable performance in IPL Ian Bishop took to X (formerly Twitter) for praising the Indian pacer.

“If I could anoint Jasprit Bumrah with a fast bowling PHD, I would. He is a terrific communicator, knowledgeable and articulate. I’d then have him hold bowling lectures to young for aspiring seam bowlers across the country at all levels. I wouldn’t wait until he retired,” Bishop posted on X, before posting another message that said: “I am signing up for classes.” the tweet said, which has now garnered several likes and reshares after being posted.

Bishop praised Jasprit and asked him to hold bowling lectures for young and aspiring seam bowlers even before retiring.

A Once In A Generation Talent? Vaughn’s Take On Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been in a great form, especially since he returned from his career-threatning back fracture, caused due to stress.

His recent performance has gotten him yet another complement, this one from Michael Vaughn. According to Vaughn, Bumrah is a bowling machine, a once in a generation kind of a talent, even better than the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Glenn McGrath.

“I think Jasprit Bumrah… if you ask the world to pick one fast bowler for all conditions across all formats, he is the name on the team sheet. He is incredible. There are some world-class bowlers. New Zealand‘s Trent Boult. Tim Southee has been great for so many years. Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad. Incredible bowlers. Pat Cummins, [Josh] Hazelwood, [Mitchell] Starc but Bumrah is just a little bit… he’s got that action, that release. He gets closer to the batter which gives him that bit of pace. The accuracy, the reverse swing, the conventional swing, variations, bouncers… you name it. Bumrah has got everything,” Vaughan told BeerBiceps on their YouTube channel.

Talking about comparing Bumrah to Pakistan‘s Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Australia‘s Glenn McGrath, Vaughn added “I would say that he wouldn’t be the one I would want to face out of all those names. He is like a bowling machine. He doesn’t give too many looseners. His pace doesn’t change – be it first ball or last ball. See, Wasim Akram is a genius. Absolute genius. Glenn McGrath… If there was any movement, he would find it. If there was a spot to hit, he would find it. He could contain you, restrict you, study your technique, but I just feel Bumrah is pretty much at the top of that list.”

Sure to say, Bumrah is definitely a force to look out for. An integral part and asset of the Indian Cricket Team and BCCI
