Faf du Plessis Lauds Team Effort Despite Narrow Loss; Optimistic for Future Matches

The Sunday is eventful as the fans are enjoying another doubleheader. In the first match of the day, Kolkata Knight Riders faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens. After meeting in the first match in Bengaluru, both teams faced each other again. But in this match, RCB lost the game by a narrow margin of 1 run. After that close loss, Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis opened up on the match.

Virat’s Controversial Dismissal and du Plessis’ View:

Virat Kohli’s classic flick shot set the tone for the team’s batting, driving the chase forward with his elegant style. However, the match took a sudden turn when Harshit Rana dismissed Kohli on the first ball of the third over. This unexpected event added suspense, altering the chase’s dynamics and intensifying the competition. Rana’s delivery, a slow full toss, caught Kohli off guard, leading to an unsuccessful defense attempt and a crucial breakthrough for KKR.

That dismissal created a buzz. After facing defeat, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis talked about this, he said, “It was crazy, rules are rules, Virat and myself thought that the ball was higher than the waist (on Kohli’s dismissal), I guess they measured from the popping crease, one team thinks it’s high, the other doesn’t. That’s how the game goes at times.”

On Jake-Patidar’s Partnership and Sunil Narine:

After Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were dismissed, Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar made an impactful partnership. That boosted the team’s innings. Jacks scored 55 runs and Patidar scored 52 runs. After that, du Plessis praised them. He said, “Then the partnership, it was magnificent (on the Jacks-Patidar partnership), but when you don’t win too many games, some sort of panic sets in, and the Narine over was game-changing. “

Sunil Narine came at a crucial point while bowling in the second innings. He ended his 4-over spell with 2 wickets after conceding 34 runs. Du Plessis talked about this. He said, “You don’t feel that you have time to settle down and bat (on the evolution of the IPL this season), the game doesn’t allow it to do that, obviously you have an extra batter, but in chases like these, you have to keep going. The match-up against Narine, I thought that was the game changing over.”

View on the Match:

As RCB struggled in previous matches, they played a team game in this match. They lost the match by a close margin but their team game is a positive sign for the team in the upcoming matches. Faf du Plessis praised his team for their performances. He said, “The small things, I am actually proud of the boys tonight, the way we bowled and fielded, we did give away a couple of big overs towards the end, but I thought we kept them down to a par score. We thought we’ll go hard in the batting powerplay, find those boundaries at the start of the innings.”

Later he added, “ We were desperate, 10/10 from an effort perspective, the way we put up the effort in the ground, the faces told the story. We’ve got an unbelievable fanbase, we want to make them happy, we want them to have a smile on their face. We’ll have to continue putting in our efforts and try to change things around.”
