The 12th Caribbean Premier League has started in preparations, as it will start some time after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.Â
The tournament is scheduled to be played from 29 August till 6 October 2024. The matches are planned to be played across six countries in the Caribbean: Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Lucia. Guyana Amazon Warriors are the defending champions.
Meanwhile, the franchise St. Lucia Kings have released the list of retentions this season, and South African players Faf du Plessis and Heinrich Klaasen have been named in the list.
Faf and Klaasen to play for St. Lucia
St. Lucia Kings have released their list for the retained players in the CPL 2024 on June 6. Heinrich Klaasen and Faf du Plessis have both been retained by the team.
This move might have been influenced by Faf and Heinrich’s performance in the IPL 2024 season for their respective franchises. Faf du Plessis was the captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore while Heinrich Klaasen played for Sun Risers Hyderabad this season.
Afghanistan’s Left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed and Namibian seam-bowling all-rounder David Wiese have also been signed by the Kings, while former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and Sri Lanka’s top-order batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa have also been kept.Â
Colin Munro, who was brought in as a substitute for the injured du Plessis last year, has been discharged, along with Zimbabwean players Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams.
12 players have been confirmed for the team in the 2024 season. Rest of the five spots will be filled in the draft, which will take place in July.
