The Indian Premier League has had several stories of players establishing a strong bond with franchises. Chennai Super Kings is known by the name of MS Dhoni who has led the team to 3 IPL titles. Virat Kohli has been associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore ever since he stepped his foot into the league. Even though Rohit Sharma played for Deccan Chargers initially, Mumbai Indians poured on him, unconditional love.

However, there have been some players who have roamed around and played for different franchises. They just couldn’t strengthen their place in one team. You would be surprised to know that the Australian batsman Aaron Finch holds the record for playing as many as 7 different IPL franchises. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore before the IPL 2020 auction. That would be his 8th IPL team.

It would come as a surprise to few that Finch started his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals in 2010. For the next 2 seasons, he represented Delhi Daredevils. In 2013, the right-hander moved to Pune Warriors India. In the next 2 editions, he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians respectively.

Gujarat Lions was the next home for Finch for the next 2 years. In 2018, he was picked up by Kings XI Punjab. Finch missed the 2019 season to prepare for the World Cup. Across 75 matches, Finch has played for 7 different teams. When the 13th edition gets underway, RCB would be Finch’s 8th IPL side.

Apart from Finch, Yuvraj Singh, Parthiv Patel, Thisara Perera, Dinesh Karthik and Irfan Pathan have played for 6 different teams. Ashish Nehra, Kevin Pietersen, RP Singh and Steve Smith have represented 5 franchises.
