India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik expressed his disappointment with Tamil Nadu Ranji coach Sulakshan Kulkarni for blaming captain R Sai Kishore for their loss in the semifinal against Mumbai at the MCA Cricket Ground.
Kulkarni had attributed the loss to the decision to bat first after winning the toss, stating, “I always speak straightforward — we lost the match at 9 o’clock on day one.” He further explained, “The moment I saw the wicket, I exactly knew what we were going to get. Everything was set, we won the toss, as a coach, as a Mumbaikar, I know the conditions well. We should have bowled but the captain had some different instinct.”
Dinesh Karthik disagreed with Kulkarni’s assessment, emphasizing that it was R Sai Kishore who had led the team to the semifinals after seven years. Karthik criticized the coach for not supporting the captain, who believed it was a positive start for the team.
