“Definitely One Of The Best”- Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals bags a win against Gujrat Titans

After so many matches with big run-chases, today’s IPL match came as a refreshing breath of air. The match between Delhi capitals and Gujrat Titans was a low-scoring game that finished early. Despite the venue being Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, the home ground for GT, the match turned out in favour of DC with their sharp bowling.

About the bowling of his team, DC captain Rishabh Pant said “Definitely one of the best, it’s early on in the tournament, can’t say much as we can improve individually”.

It must be noted that Pant has returned to the field this IPL for the first time after a 14 month rehab following his major accident on December 30, 2022. The wicketkeeper-batsman was deemed fit by BCCI to participate in TATA IPL 2024.

Pant can further be quoted saying “The only thought process before coming on to the field was coming in a better way, that’s the only thought when I was going through my rehab. The only conversation we had before the chase was – let’s get it as early as possible, we lost a few run-rate points earlier and we covered it up.”

GT Scored 89 Giving A Very Small Run-Chase

It seems like the pitch today was not in favour of the batsmen. Gujrat Titans scored a total of 89 runs. The Delhi Capitals bowlers made it even harder for GT to score much. Dc scored 92 runs leading the match to an early end. This year IPL has seen the teams scoring around 200 despite being T20 matches. Today’s match came as a surprise to the audience and players the same. The match also made it to history by taking one of the fewest overs to chase 90+ target in IPL. DC scored 92/4 in 8.5 overs.

On asking captain Pant about his feelings about the match, he said “Lots of things to be pleased about. We talked about the champion thought process and our team showed today that we can play like that and really happy to see that.”

Pant Bags The Player Of The Match Title.

Despite coming back on the field after a 14 month hiatus, Rishabh Pant’s performance in the series has been good. Pant got his 7th POTM title. The highest number of titles while playing for Delhi Capitals  is still held by Virender Sehwag with 10 accolades of the same title to his name.
