In a recent statement, Chennai Super Kings‘ (CSK) fast bowler Deepak Chahar expressed confidence in the fitness and ability of former Indian captain MS Dhoni to continue playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for another 2-3 years. Chahar’s comments come as a response to queries about Dhoni’s future in the IPL, especially after the latter confirmed his participation in the 2024 season, dismissing retirement rumors.
Chahar revealed, “MS Dhoni has recovered well from his knee injury and is fit enough to play in the IPL for another 2-3 years.”
The 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman’s future in the IPL has been a topic of speculation, given his iconic status in Indian cricket. Despite retiring from international cricket in August, Dhoni has maintained his fitness and leadership role within CSK, leading them to success in previous seasons.
He further said that Dhoni is like an elder brother to him and has learnt a lot from him.
“I see him as an elder brother, we had lots of fun moments – playing PUBG, I have been so lucky to learn from him”, Chahar added.
Dhoni’s consistent performance and enduring fitness have defied age-related expectations, leading to admiration from fans and teammates alike. His presence in the CSK lineup has been instrumental in the team’s success, making him a vital asset for the franchise.
With Dhoni’s confirmation of his participation in IPL 2024 and Chahar’s endorsement of his capabilities, CSK fans can look forward to witnessing more of the iconic captain’s leadership and performances in the seasons to come.
