Sourav Ganguly ‘s biopic has been in the buzz for last few years. The former cricket has been asked about it lot of times and he showed interest too. Reportedly the biopic is about to start soon but the cast hasn’t been decided yet.
Sourav Ganguly was one of the interesting characters of Indian cricket. His cricket career was also full of drama and twists that can easily beat any Bollywood movie. Sports movies have been in the trend for Bollywood since last few years as well. After biopics of Md Azharuddin and MS Dhoni, the audience cannot wait to watch the biopic of Dada. When Ganguly was asked about the same earlier, he said he would like Hrithik Roshan to act in the same.
Earlier this month Luv Ranjan’s Luv Films officially announced to do a biopic on Sourav Ganguly. The cricketer himself tweeted about the same, saying, Well, earlier this month, Luv Ranjan’s Luv Films officially announced the project. The cricketer shared: “Cricket has been my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen.”
Reportedly Ranbir Kapoor was a primse choice for the told. But recent news suggest, the actor has not shown much interest. A source said, “Luv Ranjan who is currently directing Ranbir did mention the Sourav Ganguly biopic to the actor. But Ranbir didn’t show any interest. He is more into football than cricket.”
The name of Parambrata Chatterjee was also doing the rounds to play the role of Ganguly in biopic. But the source denied saying, “As for Parambrata Chatterjee, he isn’t even in consideration. The producers want an actor with a pan-India image. It’s surprising that Parambrata hasn’t issued a statement and is enjoying the unwarranted attention.”
There is a high chance of Ganguly playing himself on the silver screen. His screen presence is loved by all already. However, nothing has been finalized yet and the producers are busy finalizing the screenplay first.
