David Warner Considers India His Second Home, Plans to Move Here After Retirement

David Warner, the explosive opening batsman for Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Australian cricket team, has a deep fondness for India. In a recent interview on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel, Warner spoke about his desire to potentially move to India after his cricketing career concludes.

Warner’s Love Affair with India

This love affair with India stems from his time playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL from 2014 to 2021. Warner’s genuine love for Indian movies, his warm interactions with fans, and his overall appreciation for the cricket-crazed culture have solidified India as his second home.

While he doesn’t own property in India yet, Warner has expressed a strong interest in purchasing a home there someday. He shared his love for the Indian people and their positive outlook on life, which he finds refreshing compared to the sometimes negativity he perceives in his home country, Australia.

“People say I am mad for going out without security and all that. But, at the end of the day, people have a lot of respect. I think people come and ask for photos, yes. But when you are out without your kids and embracing the culture, I think people understand and keep their distance,” Warner said.

Cultural Differences Between India and Australia

He further elaborated on the stark cultural difference he feels between India and Australia, highlighting the constant positivity and love he encounters in India.

“In Australia, sometimes we have the tall poppy syndrome. Always the negative mindset before the positive mindset. As soon as you come here, everything is positive. People out here are loving life. In Australia, sometimes, we do not ground ourselves enough,” Warner added.

Currently, Warner is out of action due to a finger injury and his IPL 2024 season hasn’t been the most prolific, with just 167 runs scored in seven matches. However, his love for India and its people transcends cricket, making it a strong possibility that he might make this his home in the future.
