CSK vs KKR IPL 2024: Ravindra Jadeja creates a record on field

Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder of Chennai Super Kings, achieved a significant milestone in the IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He completed 100 catches in his IPL career when he caught KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer off Mustafizur Rahman’s bowling in the 20th over of the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Jadeja’s catch was a result of Iyer miscuing a big shot on the leg side. Jadeja’s athleticism and agility were on display as he sprinted to get to the ball and reached the milestone. This landmark achievement showcases Jadeja’s prowess as one of the best fielders in the IPL.

Jadeja’s all round brilliance

He was the star performer with bowl as well. Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling was nothing short of spectacular. He took three crucial wickets in his first eight balls, including the dismissals of Angkrish Raghuwanshi, Sunil Narine, and Venkatesh Iyer. Jadeja’s strategy of bowling wicket-to-wicket and varying his pace effectively tied down the KKR batsmen. His spell ended with impressive figures of 3 for 18 in four overs, with an economy rate of 4.50.

In the CSK vs KKR match, the bowlers, particularly the fast bowlers, played a pivotal role in restricting KKR to a modest total of 137. As the match progressed, it became evident that the off-pace deliveries were effective on the slow Chepauk pitch. Mustafizur Rahman, despite his long run-up, relied on slower cutters, reminiscent of a left-arm orthodox bowler’s finesse, which posed a challenge for the KKR batsmen.

Tushar Deshpande’s slower ball dismantled Rinku Singh’s stumps, while Andre Russell, who came in late, found himself struggling against Mustafizur’s deliveries outside off stump. Russell was even dropped by the veteran MS Dhoni behind the stumps. Deshpande’s final over saw him sending Russell back to the pavilion, while Mustafizur’s last over was exceptional, picking up two wickets and conceding only two runs.
