5th November is an important date in Indian cricketing history as Virat Kohli, one of the best batsmen the country has ever produced, was born on this day in the year 1988. Today, he celebrates his 29th birthday and it’s one of those days where cricketers from all over the world send in their wishes to the modern master.

It seems like yesterday that Virat Kohli had made an entry to international cricket and today, he has established himself as the best batsman in the world. He is always compared with other batsmen like Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson but the truth is, in the past couple of years, he has sailed way past all others to reach great heights.

The 29-year-old already has 49 international centuries. In ODIs, he has 32 tons to his name and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 hundreds. With a good 10 years of international cricket ahead of him, he is set to overtake the Master Blaster at least in this regard.

Even in his early cricketing days, he was being compared with Tendulkar and the arguments have only gotten stronger as Kohli keeps breaking records after records. Tendulkar himself had stated that Kohli could break his records and the Delhi-had has left no stone unturned in living up to the expectations of his idol.

Kohli is currently the No.1 batsman in ICC ODI and T20I rankings and No.6 in Tests. Since he took over the reigns from MS Dhoni, Indian cricket has reached great levels. The men in blue have been invincible at home as well as overseas under his leadership. India’s Test side is currently ranked No.1 in the world and there is a chance they’ll occupy the pole position in all 3 formats.

Yes, there are bigger challenges lie ahead as the team tours to countries like South Africa, England and Australia in the coming months but the way Virat Kohli has led the side, we are sure that the results will be no different. We wish the most passionate cricketer in the world a happy 29th.

Here’s how cricketers wished him on the occasion
