Gary Kirsten, renowned for coaching the Indian cricket team to victory in the 2011 World Cup, expressed his privilege in welcoming PM Modi and his delegation to South Africa. Kirsten shared his personal connection with India, having spent considerable time in the country both as a player and coach. He fondly recalled the fun memories from his time coaching Team India and thanked the Indian people for their unwavering support. Kirsten also highlighted the upcoming significance of the World Cup returning to India, marking a momentous occasion for global cricket.

“My privilege to welcome you and your delegation to South Africa. I have been very fortunate to spend lots of time in India during my playing and coaching career. I also have many fun memories during my time coaching team India and was so grateful for the support of Indian people. This year will also be very special for global cricket when the World Cup returns to India. Wish you and all global leaders for the upcoming BRICS summit.”, Kirsten exclaimed.

The BRICS Summit, a gathering of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is a platform for discussions on various global issues. In addition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit will be attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the host, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be in attendance and will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
