Cricadium predicts India’s squad for Cricket World Cup 2019

India’s squad for Cricket World Cup 2019 is the biggest talk of the town right now. Every cricket pundit is coming up with his squad that suits the requirement for the mega event to be hosted by England and Wales later this year.

With the World Cup a few months away, it’s time Cricadium predicts India’s squad for Cricket World Cup 2019. Most of the players just pick themselves and there is a tussle for a few spots only. Team India looks strong and doesn’t need to experiment a lot. In the remaining few matches before the tournament, they just need to stick to the core squad.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are the prominent openers who are the best in the world at the top. But as the World Cup is a big tournament, the team needs a backup opener. Hence, we have picked KL Rahul. Despite his lackluster form in the longest format of the game, he is a wonderful white ball player.

The captain Virat Kohli walks in at No.3, followed by Ambati Rayudu at No.4. MS Dhoni will be the wicketkeeper who will also be a mentor for the youngsters. Just like the openers, there should be a backup wicketkeeper as well. Rishabh Pant is the best candidate at the moment as a backup for Dhoni. He can slot in at any number in the batting order and certainly makes a case for himself in India’s squad for Cricket World Cup 2019.

Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya are the all-rounders in the squad. Both can be handy with the ball as well as destructive, batting in the lower middle-order. The 2 regular pacers in the side are Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah who are equally good with the new and the old ball.

Then come the 2 wrist spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. In the last year, the duo has been massively responsible for India’s success in ODI cricket. Recently, the two haven’t been featuring in the XI together to give opportunities to others. But, they are most likely to play together in the World Cup.

India needs a backup spinner as well as a pacer to complete the 15-member squad. Ravindra Jadeja fits in for the role of the backup spinner. He has been to England a few times and knows the conditions pretty well. His batting at the slog overs can prove to be useful as well. But when it comes to fielding, he is right up there with the best in the business.

Mohammed Shami has emerged as a pretty handy ODI bowler recently. He was India’s best pacer in the World Cup 2015. But since then, his premier focus has been on Test cricket. But of late, he has shown his worth for ODI cricket as well. The pacer recently won the Player of the Tournament award in the ODI series in New Zealand. Hence, he is the frontrunner be included in India’s squad for Cricket World Cup 2019
