Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf took charge of the bowling attack and  Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi backed up. Amir and Rauf secured two wickets each and Rauf secured 2 wickets each. They restricted Canada to 106 runs.

While chasing the target, Pakistan lost their first wicket early. Saim Ayub was dismissed on 6 runs in 12 balls. But Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan led the way. Babar played a knock of 33 runs in 33 balls on a very crucial point. Rizwan delivered a match-winning performance. He completed his half-century and played an unbeaten knock of 53 runs in 53 balls. They reached the winning total on the 18th over and won the match by 7-wicket.

Babar Azam’s Words:

As the team started the tournament with consecutive setbacks, the match against Canada was crucial for them. In that win, they registered their long-desired win by an ultimate team game. After winning the match, Babar Azam said, “ Good for us. We needed this win. Credit to team. We started well and took wickets with the new ball. We had NRR on the back of the mind. The first six overs are very crucial here. You assess after 6 overs. Then we tried to take on the spinners.”
