A college student has been arrested after he illegally entered the playing field and disrupted the CSK vs GT match.
In the 59th match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings were hosted at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat by home team Gujarat Titans.Â
The match was exciting and a happy instance for the GT fans as they witnessed two centuries from the two opening batsmen, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan who scored 104 and 103 runs respectively.Â
The match however was delayed in the 19th over as an enthusiastic fan illegally entered the ground only to fall on CSK ex-captain MS Dhoni’s feet.

Instances of cricket fans entering the field during matches are not rare. There have been several moments when fans have shown their appreciation, passion and love for their favourite cricketers by entering the field to just meet them once.
However, there is a dark side to it as well. In the IPL 2024 season, several matches have fallen prey to match invaders. The same had also happened in RRvsRCB match at Jaipur.
A fan was arrested by Gujarat police in Ahmedabad after he entered the match to meet his hero, MS Dhoni.
According to police, the accused, identified as Jai Bharat, is a final-year BA student.
Ahmedabad ACP Digvijay Singh Rana told reporters on Saturday that a case of trespassing and illegal entry has been registered against the accused student.
“Yesterday, during the IPL match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, a college student jumped onto the field and started running towards the pitch. There was a break during the match and the accused thought of meeting Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Constables present at the spot apprehended him,” ACP Rana said.
When the Dhoni fan invaded CSKvsGT match
It was during the batting innings of CSK, when a fan entered the playing field, running towards the Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star wicketkeeper-batsman and ex-captain of CSK.
Dhoni fans are known to be passionate at the very least. It’s common knowledge that the crowd goes crazy when Dhoni comes to bat. The instance of a fan entering a match to meet him isn’t a first timer.
The spectator was seen invading the field and falling at the feet of Dhoni. A bit of a delay occurred as security takes the person away. This was during the 19th over of CSK batting.
