The excitement for the upcoming IPL season has started gearing up. The schedule is still not confirmed because of the General Election. The tournament is likely to start at the end of March. As per the reports, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will be locking horns in the first match.
Probable Starting Date and Chairman’s Words:
The IPL 2024 is on the way. The auction was wrapped up last year. All the franchises are ready to participate in the tournament. The upcoming 17th season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to kick off on March 22 and will take place entirely in India, even during the general elections, according to IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. He mentioned that they plan to release the schedule for the first 15 days, with the remaining games’ dates to be announced once the official dates for the general elections are confirmed.
Chairman said, “We don’t want to be in a situation where we announce the full IPL schedule, and then the security agency informs us that they won’t be available to provide security for the specific venue games,” the IPL chairman added. “It takes a lot of logistical challenges to change the venue at the last moment, lot of machinery work behind the scenes, and they need time to conduct each IPL game. So we thought let’s wait and announce only the first few games scheduled. We will announce the complete schedule once we get a clear picture of which state will be holding elections on specific dates.”
The First Match:
The fans are excited to spend another two months with some thrilling T20 fixtures. Because of the T20 World Cup in June, the tournament is likely to take an early start. As per the reports, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Giants are likely to lock horns in the first match of the IPL 2024.
Before that, they met each other in the final match of the IPL 2023. While batting first, the Gujarat Titans made 214/4. Applying the DLS method, CSK’s target was 171 runs. The Titan bowlers were dominating well. But Jadeja did it for his team. He hit the winning shot and CSK won the match. With that win, the franchise registered their 5th trophy.
