Chennai Super Kings gives update on their two star players

Chennai Super Kings have dealt with serious injury blows during this IPL season. In yesterday’s match, three of their key players Deepak Chahar, Ben Stokes, and Moeen Ali were not playing the game. Despite the injuries, Chennai Super Kings won the game comfortably against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians.

Moeen Ali was out of the game due to food poisoning. He is likely to return to the side in the next match. However, the main concern is the injuries of Deepak Chahar and Ben Stokes.

Stokes missed Saturday’s game against Mumbai due to a minor toe injury, according to CSK. In spite of his concerns about a knee issue, the England all-rounder participated in both of the first two games, scoring 15 runs with the bat and bowling an over against Lucknow Super Giants.

Chahar, on the other hand, suffered a hamstring injury after bowling the fifth pitch of the game’s opening over. The team physiotherapist had helped him finish the over, but he then left the pitch.

CSK management give an injury update

“Chahar will undergo scans to identify the extent of the injury once the team returns to Chennai. The Chennai Super Kings medical staff are closely monitoring both the players and will provide all support necessary for their recovery,” the CSK statement read.

Chahar’s hamstring muscle has been hurt three times in the past 12 months. He suffered a similar injury in February 2022, and while recovering, he also hurt his back. As a result, he missed the entire IPL season and was out for six months. Just two months after his return, his stiff back prevented him from competing in the T20 World Cup in October. He left an ODI match against Bangladesh later that month after bowling three overs due to a hamstring injury and didn’t return until the 2023 IPL season.

Chahar has been facing injury issues ever since he made his debut for Chennai Super Kings. He has been constantly in and out of the side due to injury. The fast bowler missed the entire season last year due to injury.

Both players are crucial for the team’s chances in the tournament. They are one of the most highly-paid cricketers in the franchise.
