India U19 batter Sachin Dhas earns praise from R Ashwin following his match-winning innings against South Africa in the U19 World Cup

India U19 team made it to the Final of the U19 World Cup for the Ninth time with a hard-fought win against South Africa in the Semi-Final.

Chasing a target of 245 the Boys in Blue were reduced to 32-4 courtesy of some superb bowling from the South African new ball bowlers up front. The onus was now on captain Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas to bail the team out of trouble.

The Comeback Act

The duo started the task of rebuilding the innings cautiously by seeing off the threat that South Africa’s new-ball bowlers presented. Sachin Dhas was the more aggressive of the two as the batter took on the bowlers and brought up his half-centuries at a rapid rate.

Sahran’s role at the other end was to guide the innings and play right till the end and he almost managed to do so but was unfortunate to get runout in what eventually became the penultimate ball of the match for 81.

“Can see so much of Shai Hope in Sachin Dhas’s coil and bat swing. Wonderful composure and poise to this partnership between Sachin and Uday.” Ashwin wrote after the match.
